There is such a wealth of dilapidation and decay in this city, that this colour combination caught my eye with nearly every turn. I was mesmerized by the rich, warm tones of rust in conflict with the cool, steel tones of the greys and blues. I've always loved how as copper deteriorates, it transforms into a wonderful turquoise patina (even though in most cases here, the subject matter is made of steel or iron). I was looking for textures that complimented each other as well as those in opposition. Smooth and broken edges. Reflection and absorption. Twisted angles that drag your eyes in zig-zags and straight lines that bring your eye off the photo in a direction in which you'll never know it's end.
All of these photos were taken in the Berlin area except the 9th one of the Thomaskirche in Leipzig.
